Passionate about healthy cooking
For the past ten years I have had a deep passion for the Food and Catering Industry. I am now 25 years old and not only teach Indian Food as a Chef Lecturer but also manage my father's successful Indian restaurant. I have been fortunate enough to study Food right from GCSE level, through to A' Levels and at University, where I completed a BA Honours in Hospitality and Food Studies with a First Class Honours and passed a Masters in Hospitality with Merit. I particularly believe in the view that Indian Food can be made healthy and am in the process of writing my own Low Fat Indian cook book .
I Won a national award in 2001 for my A level Food Technology project for being the student with the highest mark in the whole country. The project was based on low fat Indian food, which I have now promoted at my fathers Indian restaurant, The Brilliant in Southall, where a new healthy options menu is available for the 'health conscious customer', I believe we are the first Indian restaurant to come up with such a concept, and my mission is to further expand the healthy options range and make the public believe and experience that there is such thing as a 'healthy chicken tikka masala'.
I also carry out cookery demonstrations in schools and colleges and do whatever I can to promote Food as a subject. I feel we need to educate more chefs and professionals in our developing Food Industry and urge youngsters who are thinking of pursuing a career in Food and Catering to 'go all the way'. I have had many Radio interviews, magazine articles and newspaper write up's relating to my connection with food and through this website I hope to share some of these with you.
Food is my passion, as well as teaching and learning about it, I love eating it and cooking it. My favourite food not surprisingly is Indian, I also love Chinese, Lebanese, Italian and traditional English cuisine. I don't believe in diets, I believe in having a balanced diet, 'you can eat anything you want, so long as is in moderation'. My views about life 'Follow Your Heart.....Go straight and turn right!', this I believe is the reason for my success.
